Robyn Johnston

Communicating and celebrating cultural expression of all kinds has been the passion that has informed Robyn Johnston's work over twenty years at the ABC, producing and presenting a wide range of programs with an emphasis on music and the arts.

On Radio National in the late 80s she presented the Saturday morning music performance and arts discussion programme In Tempo, then in 1990, founded the groundbreaking music programme The Planet.

She later devised Sunday morning's Melisma programme, a new approach to exploring chamber music across the centuries. Robyn presented the arts program Coast to Coast on ABC Television, a showcase for Australian creativity in its many forms.

She presents ABC Classic FM's live broadcasts in her home city of Perth and has hosted special events for ABC television, including the Australian Singing Competition and the Young Performer's Awards at the Sydney Opera House.

She finds the creative juxtaposition of music for radio to be a joyous and intriguing pursuit; one she explores weekly on Nocturne, Sunday nights on Radio National.
