Festival Baroque Australia Ensemble

Festival Baroque Australia was founded by Emeritus Professor Sandra Bowdler in 2008. The ensemble performs throughout the year with Festivals taking place in Perth at the University of W.A.

Performing music of the Baroque era(1600 1750) the FBA ensemble boasts international expertise.

The orchestral players are led by Yehudi Menuhin, Guildhall and Juilliard Music Schools graduate and Director of String Studies at UWA, Professor Paul Wright. The FBA ensemble includes UWA graduates/lecturers Pascale Whiting violin, Amelia Peachment, Katherine Corecig viola, Noeleen Wright, Sophie Walker, Clare Tunney celli, Peter Moore and Joanne Brown bassoon and from Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Coordinator of Classical Music, Stewart Smith on harpsichord and graduates Alice Evans violin and Elizabeth Browning double bass. Other local musicians employed are soprano Sara Macliver, Fiona Campbell mezzo soprano, Scott Wellstead tenor, Giovanni Pasini viola da gamba and James Clayton baritone.
