Luke Salmon is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).
Beginning the piano at an early age, Luke studied with Jennifer Regtershot, taking exams in Australian & New Zealand Cultural Arts (A.N.Z.C.A.) and the Australian Musical Examinations Board (A.M.E.B.).
He graduated from the Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts - Music (A.D.P.A.) in 2004, learning in particular from Micheàl McCarthy (Aural & Choral Conducting), Faith Maydwell (Piano Pedagogy), and Jana Kovar (Principal Study - Piano).
While undertaking studies with Geoffrey Lowe, for the Bachelor of Education (Music Education - Secondary), Luke currently serves as a Lay Clerk (tenor) in the choir of St. George’s Cathedral, Perth (director - Simon Lawford). He is also a member of Summa Musica Chamber Choir (director - Anthony Maydwell), St. George's Baroque Consort (director - David Gething), and The Arcadian Voices (of which he is the director).
A long-serving member of Eneksis Vocal Ensemble (director - Micheàl McCarthy), he has also sung with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and the Western Australian Youth Chorale (directors - Andrew Bushell & Dr. Robert Braham).
First introduced to the organ in 2001, Luke has since been awarded first place in the Open Classical Pipe Organ section of the Fremantle Eisteddfod in 2005, and again in 2006. He has taken lessons with Simon Lawford, and is currently studying with Stewart Smith (lecturer at WAAPA). Luke is often called upon as organist for weddings.Book This Performer
