Steve Richter

Steve is an accomplished and talented percussionist with a bent for hitting things!

Since graduating from the WA Academy of Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Music, Steve has performed in many guises; from the WA Symphony to the acclaimed Australian musical The Boy from Oz.

International touring experience includes being a part of Tetrafide Percussion’s performances in the UK, Ireland, Japan and the Phillipines. The Black Swan Theatre Company’s Career Highlights of the Mamu tour to Germany (2002) was another highlight.

He has performed with the Australian Shakespeare Company (A Midsummer’ Nights Dream), Synergy, Zoltan Racz, Christine Anu, Eskimo Joe, Magnetic Pig and the Afro Cuban All Stars to name but a few.

Steve performs regularly as drummer and percussionist with leading groups wood, Sabroson (latin big band) and Taal Naan (world fusion). He forms half of the mr. sister duo with Mel Robinson playing electronic percussion, keyboard, singing and songwriting. 2008 will see the release of mr. sisters’ first full length album entitled ‘Empty Places”.

As composer, Steve has written several works for Tetrafide, and mr. sister. He has also been commissioned to write both solo percussion and percussion ensemble works. Steve is currently commissioned by Michelle Locke of Wu Tao, the Dancing Way to represent various dances she has choreographed reflecting the various elements of nature.
