Karen Michelle Lyon
Soprano Karen Michelle Lyon has sung in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney and overseas in Italy, the UK and the United States. To date, she has appeared as Amor in Orfeo ed Euridice, Pamina in Die Zauberflote, Tatyana in Eugene Onegin and Lucia di Lammermoor. She has also performed roles in musicals including Les Miserables and Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof.
In 2008, Karen Michelle's performances include Pamina in Rome, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi in Piobbico and La Prima Sorella Cercatrice in Suor Angelica in Urbania, as well as concert appearances as Gianetta in L'Elisir D'Amore and Norina in Don Pasquale.
Karen Michelle graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Music and a High Distinction in Vocal Performance in 2004. Subsequently, she continued with opera studies at Sydney Conservatorium under Patricia Price and Sharolyn Kimmorley before travelling to the UK, where her teachers have included Linnhe Robertson and Dame Emma Kirkby. In 2007, Karen Michelle was one of twelve students selected to participate in the London Masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music, working daily with Rosalinde Plowright and performing Handel arias in concert at the Academy. She also attended Dartington International Summer School, taking courses in opera and early music.
Most recently Karen Michelle has been performing in Italy, studying under American soprano Amy Johnson.
