Welsh-born tenor David Jones is a graduate of the Conservatorium of Music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. David is a member of the WA Opera Company and has performed in Madama Butterfly, Candide, Götterdämmerung, Samson and Delilah, Nabucco, Tristan and Isolde and Orpheus in the Underworld.
In concert, as a tenor soloist, David has appeared in Bernstein’s Mass (Adelaide Symphony Orchestra), Mozart’s ‘Great’ C Minor Mass and Coronation Mass (University Chorale), Orff’s Carmina Burana (Collegium Musicum), Jesus in a staging of Monteverdi’s Stabat Mater for UWA, and in recital for the WA Lieder Society.
His operatic roles include The Defendant in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial by Jury, Marco in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Abraham Kaplan in Kurt Weil’s Street Scene, Baron in Bernstein’s Candide; and in WAAPA’s ‘Scenes from Opera’ productions David has played Arturo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Piquillo and Mercury in Offenbach’s La Périchole and Orpheus in the Underworld, and The Magician in Menotti’s The Consul.
David, who also holds a Bachelor of Science from UWA, is currently in his second year of Graduate Law at Murdoch University.
