Based in Perth, Peter Jeavons has been active as a professional musician for over 10 years. Peter graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing
Arts (W.A.A.P.A) in 1997 with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz performance and is an in-demand freelance bassist (acoustic & electric) performing regularly in jazz, rock, funk, theatre and world music circles. Peter leads his own funk outfit ‘Thrust’ and the modern jazz group ‘Frames
Of Minds’ as well as being a key creative member of someother Perth groups ‘The Michael Pigneguy Sextet’ (jazz) and ‘Guapo’ (a blend of jazz, tango and chamber music).
Peter also co-leads ‘Salamander’ a group that fuses funk,jazz and world music with hip-hop and other forms of electronic music. ‘Salamander’ was awarded ‘the most outstanding jazz group of 2003’ by The Perth Jazz Society and the group’s debut album ‘Adapt’ was listed by 3D magazine as one of the top thirty albums of 2003.An avid composer also, Peter writes regularly for the various groups he is involved with and is currently working on a commission for the group ‘Guapo’ with another ‘The 26th parallel project’ (2nd movement) due for completion later
this year. Pete is also the manager of the Jazzaziz project for JazzWA.
