Michael Howell

Michael Howell was born in Perth and began playing the flute at age 10. Michael graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1996 under the tuition of Mr. Neil Fisenden, where subsequent postgraduate study took him to the University of Music in Weimar, Germany and concert engagements throughout Germany and Switzerland. As a freelance musician, Michael performs with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and is active in promoting chamber music for flute. Michael lectures in flute at the University of Western Australia and the WA Academy of Performing Arts and is also the journal editor for the West Australian Flute Society. Michael performs on an original flute made in 1880 by the celebrated French flute maker Louis Lot.
