The Roger Garrood Quartet has been around since late 1970s but in its current format the last six years. Last year the quartet released a CD called Mainly Bebop.
Roger Garrood started his musical training in the 1950ís whilst in the British military and he has been playing jazz ever since. Whilst working as a professional musician on P&O cruise ships he made several trips to Australia and, liking the lifestyle, decided to settle in Perth in 1972. Although specialising in hard bop, his approach to jazz has always been broad and he likes playing all sorts of music. Roger plays and teaches soprano, alto and tenor saxophone and has taught at WAAPA for 21 years.
