Gillian Catlow

Gillian Catlow studied violin under Robert Pikler (Sydney), Sandor Vegh, (Salzburg), Ana Chumachenko (Munich) and chamber music with the Melos Quartet. She was a founding member of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and in the 20 years she spent in Europe played with the Camerata Academica Salzburg, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Bavarian State Opera, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Bruckner Orchestra, Linz, and for several years toured and recorded with the James Last Band.
Since 1997 she has taught and worked as a free-lance violinist in Perth with groups including Ensemble Arcangelo, Collegium Symphonic Chorus Baroque Orchestra, the Australian Opera Studio Orchestra, Mostly Baroque and the Juniper Chamber Orchestra. Chamber music has always played a central role in her life, and in 2003 Gillian founded the Kaleidoscope Ensemble, performing and running workshops for children.
