Kim Harrison

Kim Harrison completed a Bachelor of Music with Honours in trumpet performance at the University of Western Australia in 1980. Shortly after graduating he was appointed to the part-time position of teaching music and art at Hale Junior School. He also played trumpet with the W.A. Arts Orchestra, Will Upson Big Band and regularly augmented with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. In 1985 he joined the music staff at Methodist Ladies' College where he directed the College Big Band and College Band. He completed a Bachelor of Music Education with Honours in 1989. Since 1984 he has examined brass for the AMEB, has taught brass studies as part of the Music Education course at UWA and has played trumpet with the Perth Jazz Orchestra. Kim joined St Mary's Anglican Girls' School in 1995 as the Director of Music. In 2004, Kim joined 29 other cyclists in a bicycle ride from Albany to Perth, raising $290,000 for local charity Youth Focus.

Kim is a regular pre concert speaker for the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
