Mike has played professionally in all states of Australia for over 40 years.
He has composed many songs, orchestral pieces and music theatre works, presenting them internationally as well as locally. He studied Composition and Ethnomusicology at the Canberra School of Music, UWA and the University of New England, to Masters level.
He held the position of Community Music Coordinator in the Pilbara 85-87 and has spent more tha 25 years teaching and coordinating school music programs.
Returning to Perth in July 2011, he has developed a wide range of performing styles - jazz, classical, blues and world musics - on guitars, harp and a variety of string instruments, including mandolin, Portuguese Guitar, banjo, sarod, oud, baglama and sitar. He has built (and occasionally sold) a number of his instruments.
He has been running workshops and groups in Javanese Gamelan music snce the early 80s, and provides large orchestras, and even puppet shows.
